Ariel, The Little Mermaid, is the character that this film revolves around. She is the main character in the film, and is depicted as being a fun loving, carefree young girl. In the film, Ariel's main desire is to be able to live on land in order to find love and ultimately marry Prince Eric. In order to achieve this, Ariel must succumb to the powers of Ursula, and thus Ariel succumbs to her temptation. Eve, found in the Story of Adam and Eve, is told from God to refrain eating the forbidden fruit. Eve, however, begins to listen to the evil Serpent, and goes against the rules put in place by God, and also succumbs to temptation. Ariel is so caught up in her own world and her own issues, that she no longer takes into consideration how her decision may affect the lives of those around her. Her only concern is marrying Prince Eric, and if that means enlisting Ursula's help, then that is what she will do. Similar to Ariel, Eve is more concerned about her own well being and does not seem to care about how her decision will affect others. She decides to eat the forbidden fruit, and because she decides to go against God's rules, she must deal with the consequences of being banished from the Garden of Eden. Both Ariel and Eve succumb to their temptations and go against the rules, and thus, as a result, have to deal with the consequences.
